New iMac, iWork ‘08, iLife ‘08

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

New iMac New iMacs were unveiled today. They include the keyboard that had been previously rumored. The new iMacs are made of aluminum and glass. They come in a 20 and 24 inch versions. One particularly nice thing about them is they are eco-friendly. They do seem to bear a closer resemblance to the iPhone than the iPod.  There is also a nice ad for them you can watch.  Prices start at $1199 on the Apple Store.

iWork '08I think it’s being a little overlooked, but iWork ‘08 and iLife ‘08 have also about.  A lack of an ‘07 version is something I was very dissapointed about when I went to Macworld ‘07.  iWork ‘08 includes a new application.  In addition to Pages and Keynotes, you’ll now have a spreadsheet application called Numbers.

Fake Steve Jobs’ writer reveals himself

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Sadly, after many attempts to find the identity of Fake Steve Jobs, the writer came forward, and revealed his identity. Fake Steve Jobs is Dan Lyons, an editor at the Forbes magazine.

You may read more about the subject from the links I included. Though I am sad that we now know who FSJ is, I do hope Mr. Lyons continues to post. He did say he is planning on publishing a book entitled ‘Options: The Secret Life of Steve Jobs, a Parody’, apparently, the book will be written in the style of Fake Steve Jobs, so I plan to buy that when it is released this October.

Update: As Kevin noticed, I misread the the article from The Times. He publicly revealed his identity after Brad Stone ‘outed’ him. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Skitch

Monday, July 30th, 2007

For some reason I find myself constantly taking screenshots and uploading them places. It’s usually stuff I’m developing and looking for feedback on, but whatever. I just received an invite for Skitch, and despite all the trash I’ve talked about it, it’s actually pretty cool.

For example, it took about 5 seconds and 2 clicks to get this shot uploaded and ready for the world! Pretty neat.

And on a side note, all my rage towards WP was caused by the Safari 3 beta. Everything seems to work peachy from Firefox. Silly me.

New Apple Keyboard

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Rumors have been rampant of a new Apple keyboard.  I’ve been reading mixed opinions on what people think of how it looks.  I personally care more about how it feels on my fingers.  The rumored keyboard looks similar to the MacBook keyboard, of which I’ve gotten very use to typing.

Apple Inc. is doing well

Working with Apple computers, this is good for me.  Apple’s success ensures more work for me.

Anti-Theft from Apple

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

Nothing announced or official from Apple.  I think some clever anti-theft protection from Apple is long overdue.

“The patent, titled “Protecting electronic devices from extended unauthorized use,” outlines a technique that would allow a particular device to authenticate itself with certain, user-approved power supplies and devices so that it can only be charged by those devices.”

Full article, Apple anti-theft system would leave thieves powerless—literally, at Ars Technica.

AutoEQ

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

I just thought I would share this little app I wrote awhile ago with you guys. It lets you set equalizer preferences based on song genres for iTunes.

P.S. I loathe the WordPress post editor. It’s such a piece of garbage.
