Mac OS X and Vista

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

An article about whether Apple has taken advantage of the poor reception of Microsoft Vista to sell more Macs. As reported by the New York Times, “The best time for gaining market share is when your main competitor stumbles while introducing an entirely new version of its core product. Thanks to Microsoft’s lumbering pace, Mr. Jobs had six years to look forward to the moment when XP would be replaced by Vista.”

iTunes update blocks some third party iPhone ringtones

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

The recent update to iTunes, 7.4.1, has been reported to block some third party iPhone ringtones that were hacked for use with the iPhone in previous releases, to circumvent Apple’s 2$usd pricing on ringtones. It is starting to become evident, in my opinion, that this will turn into a mini-cat and mouse game, between Apple and the ‘homebrew’ ringtones.

New iPods

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Apple released new iPods.  Most noteworthy is the new nano and the new iPod touch.  Watch the keynote from Steve Jobs.

There are also some good videos from Apple to watch, such as the nano ads and the guided tour of the iPod touch.  And you can now purchase music right on your iPhone and iPod touch without needing your PC or Mac.

I few other nifty things like new ringtones and a partnership with Starbucks.
